On a budget

Topsail Beach on a Budget

It doesn’t cost a dime to enjoy the view. Many travelers are surprised to find that you can have a great trip to Topsail Beach on a budget. Topsail Beach has more to offer than the sand and sun, and you wont need to take out a second mortgage to make up for the expenses, either. Whether you’re making a family trip, or taking a day out to get some much-needed rest and relaxation, here are a few things you can get into for under $10.

1. Visit the Missiles and More Museum and learn the history that existed on Topsail Beach during World War II. Take a walk through the very building that was used by the government to assemble missiles for secret operations. Admission is free, the only thing you’ll be spending is time!

2. Take a tour of the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation Center and see the wonderful work that the dedicated volunteers invest for the conservation of all marine turtles. Fall in love with the cute faces, and walk away with a heart full of knowledge in protecting turtles. Adult admission is $5, and kids (12 and under) are $3. They even offer senior and military admission prices of $4.

3. Stop in to the Quarter Moon Bookstore for a cup of coffee, or glass of wine, and sink your nose in a good book. Check the schedule before you visit, and you might catch a band playing on the weekend. It’s free to sit, and a coffee wont run you more than $5. I’d say that’s worth a morning!

When you’re finished making your rounds, take some time to soak your toes in the sand. Look around with new eyes of appreciation for the location you just learned so much about. All while keeping your pockets full.
