My husband and I have always longed to visit San Francisco. We have always wanted to explore the entire California Coast. So, we headed to the Bay Area for a day trip to experience what the area had to offer.
The San Francisco Bay
Filled with multiple great locations in the Bay, we chose Fisherman’s Wharf to choose a hotel. After looking at many hotels we chose the Argonaut Hotel, an old hotel located right beside the main trolley station. Walking down the boardwalk to Pier 39 we found shops, restaurants, and street performers. After shopping around we stopped by the Eagle Cafe on the pier to eat some delicious seafood. On the walk back to the hotel we stopped by the local souvenir stores to grab some great San Francisco memorabilia.
While standing outside the Argonaut we had a clear view of Alcatraz Island, a famous prison known for housing criminals such as Al Capone and George “Machine Gun Kelly”, located in the middle of the bay for all to see. We walked up the street to Ghirardelli Square to explore the factory and get some fresh chocolate.
Now that we had seen some of the city we wanted to see the beach! Although there are many beaches in the Bay, we chose Crissy Field to explore. The old airfield is now a National Park. Having a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge, we fished off the pier and got a surprise visit from a friendly seal.
After our fun on the beach, we went back to the pier for a boat tour of the Bay aboard the Red & White Fleet. Seeing the views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and even some dolphins. After arriving back to the pier we took the short walk to an arcade filled with old games located right on the pier. Catching a trolley ride is easy and fun, plus it took us just about anywhere we need to go! Whether we were headed downtown to the mall or to Lombard Street, the trolley took us!
Although we didn’t explore all of San Francisco, we were able to view all kinds of amazing views and locations. With all the unique cultures of the Bay, there will be something for everyone!
