The North Carolina Coast offers a rich variety of recreational activities on the water. And the quaint beach town of Emerald Isle is no exception. Emerald Isle has its own charter fishing opportunities, surf camps, sport rentals, and even a private luxurious beach club with weekly and annual memberships available. In addition, visitors to Emerald Isle enjoy both the Atlantic Coast and the sound for fishing, kayaking, and other water sports. Public access to beaches and boat slips is readily available.
Of particular interest when planning a trip to Emerald Isle, is the 11 mile bike trail through the town. From Bogue Inlet to Indian Beach, the path (which accepts all forms of self-propelled transportation) takes walkers, runners, and riders on a tour of all that Emerald Isle has to offer. See the grasslands, the wooded areas, pedal through downtown, and even stop at the Visitor’s Center to learn more about the area. No trip to Emerald Isle is complete without a day spent on the bike path.
Festivals & Music
If you plan to be in Emerald Isle over the summer, enjoy EmeraldFest. EmeraldFest is the local, seasonal, FREE music concert series featuring a variety of performances. Pack a picnic and head to the beach on Thursday evenings from the middle of June to the end of August for a chill, coastal musical experience. Moreover, if music is your draw, you’ll want to revisit Emerald Isle in the fall. At the end of September, Emerald Isle hosts their own Beach Music Festival and the party goes on all day. The musical line-up continues from 11am to dusk and the concert is free. Food truck vendors and t-shirt sales complete the festival experience. This annual event was absent from the Emerald Isle calendar for many years but it returned in 2016. Help make 2017 bigger and better by attending this unique music event on Emerald Isle.
