Catalina Island

My husband is great at surprises and Catalina Island was one of the best surprises yet! Filled with stunning views and adventures for everyone.

Our trip to Catalina Island

We hopped aboard the Catalina Express and traveled about 30 miles off the coast of Long Beach to Catalina Island. We stepped outside on the boat to get some fresh air. That’s when we spotted some dolphins swimming alongside the boat, a good sign already! When we arrived on Catalina, we went to the golf cart rentals to head out on an adventure of our own. We made our way to the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Gardens to view the different and unique plants.

Once we made our way back to the town of Avalon we went into Maggie’s Blue Rose, a Mexican restaurant filled with delicious food and friendly service. Sitting in the front of the restaurant we got to gaze out at the beautiful views. After eating we went to our booked Catalina Island Extreme Hummer Tour to experience the island from a different point of view. Traveling 1,500 feet above sea level, seeing the wild buffalo grazing less than 10 feet away, and getting knowledge about the island from a local.

We finished our tour and wanted more action, so we headed to the Zip Line! We flew through the air at 30 mph. I soared over 1,100 feet at 600 feet above sea level! It was an experience I will never forget! Seeing all the sights and views, looking into the distance to see the California Coast. After 2 hours of fun flying through the air, we decided to hop into the ocean for some snorkeling! With all supplies included in our tickets, we brought our swimsuits and jumped right in with the fish! With bags of fish food, the fish came right to us so we could get a close-up view of the natural inhabitants of the island! Once we were done swimming with the fishes, we decided to head to the local ice cream shop, Scoops, for a cold refreshment!

Beach Vacation Final Thoughts

After a long, fun and eventful day we boarded the boat back to Long Beach. Our day trip to Catalina Island is one that will live on in my mind forever. We left feeling refreshed and recharged, ready for our next adventure on Catalina Island on another day!
